Tuesday, June 20    |    Amherst Park 

Creating Flipbooks   |   Lori Ann Levy-Holm   |   9-10 a.m.
In this class, we will create flipbooks to investigate the phenomenon of apparent motion.  Create your own animations and experience what it is like to be an animator.

Solar Prints and Suncatchers  |   Lori Ann Levy-Holm  |  10:30-11:30 a.m.
In this class, we will make a solar print and a sun-catcher using cyanotype which is a photographic process that produces prints when photo-sensitive paper is exposed to UV light.  The finished artwork has the appearance of a linoleum block print but without the use of cutting tools or ink.

The Science of Frescos  |   Lori Ann Levy-Holm   |   12-1 p.m.
In this class we will make frescos by painting on wet lime plaster. This activity explores one aspect of the science of frescos - absorption or saturation. Join the ranks of Leonardo daVinci and Raphael and make your own fresco!

DIY Vinyl Record Clocks  |   Yazmin Atmore |   5:30-6:30 p.m.
In this class, we will use old vinyl records to make clocks.  Using our imagination, paint, and craft materials we will create beautiful and useful art.

In this class, we will use our imaginations, acrylic paint and craft materials to make beautiful, fun, and functional clocks. 

 

Thursday, July 6   |   Nottingham Park 

Are you a superhero? Show us!  |   Kaylee Bender-Randolph    |    9-10 a.m.
In this class, we will create a clay figurine that represents you as a super hero.  We will use modeling clay, paint, and crafty scraps to build our superhero figures. 

Making Art with Bubbles   |   Kaylee Bender-Randolph   |    10:30-11:30 a.m.
Using ink, straws, and bubbles, we will explore different ways to create cool and innovative visual effects!

Paper Weaving   |   Kaylee Bender-Randolph   |   12-1 p.m.
Tapestries and textiles have long served as a form of storytelling and preserving our history and experiences. In this class, we will explore weaving our stories by using collage and magazine pieces as our fabric, creating bold abstract colorful rendition of the world around us.

 

Tuesday, July 11    |     Faversham Park 

Painting in the Park  |   Evan Siegel |   5:30-6:30 p.m.
In this class, we will choose an object found in the park as our subject.  Using pencils, paints (watercolors and acrylics), and other mediums we will capture the beauty of the object. 

Collage in the Park  |  Evan Siegel   |   7-8 p.m.
In this class we will use natural materials found in the park to create a three-dimensional collage that represents our park.

Using a variety of paints, colors, and textures, we will create beautiful renderings of our park.

Painting Landscape in the Park   |   Evan Siegel  |  10:30-11:30 a.m.
In this class, we will use pencils, paint, and other mediums to recreate the landscape of our park.  Participants will use foreground, middle ground, and background to create a sense of scale and depth.

Fantastical Structures |   Evan Siegel   |   12-1 p.m.
In this sculpture class, we will transform 3 x 5 cards in unique and whimsical three-dimensional structures.  Materials for this class will include scissors, glue and paint.

Painting Cats   |   Alena Carr   |   9-10 a.m.

Using pencils, acrylic paint, and other mediums, we will use shapes and colors to create a beautiful painting of a cat that expresses your creativity.

Magical Sunset  |   Alena Carr  |  10:30-11:30 a.m.
Using pencils, acrylic paints, and other mediums, we will create a painting of a magical sunset.

Painting Summer Blossoms  |   Alena Carr  |   12-1 p.m.
Using acrylic paints, we will explore light and texture as we paint beautiful summer blossoms.

 

Tuesday, August 8   |   Faversham

Mask Making   |   Kaylee Bender-Randolph    |    9-10 a.m.
Inspired by “Where the Wild Things Are,” we will get a chance to dress ourselves up like the cool and silly c reatures we pretend to be. Using paint and craft materials, we will create fun monster masks that show our silly sides.

Collage Journals   |   Kaylee Bender-Randolph   |    10:30-11:30 a.m.
Inspired by “Wreck This Journal”, we will be deconstructing books to create our own unique art journal. Using paint, paper tearing, paper folding, and craft items you’ll create a one-of-kind journal that tells your unique story.

Four Page Storybooks   |   Kaylee Bender-Randolph   |   12-1 p.m.
Are you a storyteller? Do you love creating your own worlds and characters? The Four Page Story is the perfect way to let your words become stories.  Using paper, markers, paint and craft material, we will bring our stories to life.

Want to make your own flag?  In this class, you will! Using rubber blocks and ink, we will carve our own original designs and transfer them to flags for you take home.

Super Hero Shields   |   Kaylee Bender-Randolph   |    10:30-11:30 a.m.
In this class, we will build a Super Shield to honor the hero inside you! Using pencils, paint, and craft items we will construct one-of-kind super hero shields.
