NEWSIES is based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”
Westminster Community Theater Project is an innovative program joining our amateur actors with a professional creative team as well as professional, working actors to create a production that teaches the realities and high expectations of professional theatre.
We can only provide this experience through the immense support of Westminster Public Schools and its Creative Arts Pipeline who provide the facilities and equipment, the North Metro Arts Alliance who, along with the SCFD, provide funds for our contracts, and Melody Musical Theater Group, who, under their auspice of year-round theater, provide organization and direction to the project.
